How to start a run club (and collect dues the easy way)
Starting a run club is mostly about showing up consistently. But once it grows, someone has to handle money and membership — here's how to keep that from eating your Saturdays.
Get the basics going
- Pick a regular day, time, and starting point people can count on.
- Set up a simple group chat for weekly reminders.
- Decide what dues pay for: coffee, a shared safety kit, race entries, a coach.
Set your dues
Keep it low and annual — most run clubs land somewhere between $15 and $40 a year. A small, round number gets more people to say yes without thinking about it.
Collect dues without the hassle
Print a QR code and bring it to the run. New members scan it, pay with Apple Pay right there on the sidewalk, and they're on the roster before the warm-up ends. Renewals happen automatically the next year.
